You Gotta Love Our Backyard

Kind of cool to look out the patio door and see these two in the tree behind the house. Haven’t looked to see if there is a nest being built in the woods near our property line. Turkeys are doing their ‘ghost’ thing—now you see them–now you don’t. Add the deer that cruised by while we were straightening up after the storm last night and it might be an interesting spring here.

Molly and I look forward to the day when you can get the green light to come out to the boonies and visit us again.

Actually, DiSalvo’s farm is the perfect place for a ‘mountain man’. I was up there for a couple of days– wood stove for heat and no running water but lots of ducks and snow ,blue and speckle-belly geese.
If you had been there I would have handed you the camera and let you go LOL

They have been hanging out near our yard for the last few days but we hear them ‘screaming’ all the time as they fly over or trying to find out where the other one is.

  1. Loving it! Are they keeping an eye on your feeders or looking to nest. The one on the left looks to be a little bigger, maybe the female?

  2. Hey John
    Good to hear from you.

Yes, I believe the larger bird is the hen. They don’t seem to be that interested in our feeder birds. We have never seen them stoop anywhere near the feeders and with the habitat being rolling hills with wood lots and fields, they may be finding small mammals a more tempting target.
