We aren’t the only ones moving into a new house

When we left St Louis, Carolyn Schlueter (The hardest working photographer in show business), gave us a blue bird house. With help from Mr John at El-Mel, we assembled the necessary stuff to get it ready for installation at the ‘new house’. Put it up last Thursday and we saw a male bluebird stake out the new digs. Soon there was a female and yesterday we had coffee and shot pictures of them moving in.

Nothing like shooting bluebird images on your patio with coffee and still wearing your house shoes.

We are waiting for furniture to be delivered here and then we will be ready for guests but if you can’t wait– let us know and we will have coffee and goodies ready and you can photograph the blue birds (or robins, cardinals, chickadees, juncos, woodpeckers, gold finches etc)in comfort with us.
Oh…and by the way we also have hawks, turkey vultures and the occasional eagle flying, roosting and other wise hanging around.

Pictures by Molly– un-cropped (re-sized for web) and minimal sharpening. Equipment: Canon 40D with 500mmL and 1.4 extender.

  1. Thanks Nancy

I think they would have to dynamite the place to get us out of it now LOL

We looked out the back door last night to the clearest sky and the brightest stars to the sounds of Spring Peepers– doesn’t get too much better than that.

  2. I forgot to mention– One of the bank ladies that helped me yesterday has the last name Von Behren

I mentioned that Molly and know some Von Behrens in St Louis that are crackerjack photographers and I think you guys may know each other

    If not–no harm no foul

    • John

Tell us when you want to show up– you are always welcome
Molly says just give her enough notice to make sure we have plenty to eat and drink– they have some good eats in this part of the country
You don’t have to wait for the “open house*” phase to come spend the day

“Open house” — ie when the furniture arrives is probably near the 1st of May–

we haven’t checked the box yet but I think the blue birds should have babies by then

      Anyway– come on out

  3. Especially love that first picture with the Bluebird carrying ALL that nesting material in it’s little beak! Glad to hear everything is coming together out in God’s Country for the two of you … and glad the Bluebird Condo got occupied so quickly. Look forward to seeing you both soon!!!!!

  4. I’m sure the blue birds would thank you for the ‘condo’…..and the meal worms LOL

Thanks for the gift of the box– it keeps giving us hours of learning about these colorful visitors

and you need to come visit us

    Just sayin
